HARVEY, LA (NBC33) — Three children under the age of 2 and two women are in the hospital after they were shot early this morning at an apartment complex in Harvey, La.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the shooting happened at roughly 4:30 a.m. at an apartment complex located in the 2300 block of Lapalco Blvd. The New Orleans Police Department assisted with the investigation.
Officials told WDSU , the NBC affiliate in New Orleans, that three of the victims were under 2 years old, and another was a 23-month-olf boy, who is currently listed in critical, but stable condition. One child was shot multiple times, according to investigators.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Fortunato said the incident began when the victims heard a knock at the door. Details are limited regarding how the shooting then occurred. However, we’re told the suspects were involved in a chase with police across the Crescent City Connection and ended near the Superdome.
Officials say four people have been arrested, but have not yet listed their names. They plan to hold a press conference at 4:00 p.m. to release new information.
