baton rouge, la (nbc33) — With the tragedy in Texas still unfolding, and people in Boston still recovering, the need to give blood is critical. That's why LifeShare is just one of several agencies in Baton Rouge that held blood drives today and will continue to take donations over the weekend.
The blood makes its way to where it's most needed. Since there are so many people who need help, the blood is used right away.
“At LifeShare blood centers, we are saving lives every day,” Tommie Langlois, LifeShare Donor Coordinator, said. “That's our goal and our mission; to make sure patients have an adequate supply of blood. It’s very rewarding that you are able to save lives.”
- Be in good health;
- Weigh a minimum of 110 pounds;
- Be at least 17 years of age to donate blood. Sixteen year olds can now donate; they must weigh at least 130 pounds and have signed TBC parental consent form.
- Have a picture I.D.
- Donors are encouraged to eat a healthful meal and drink plenty of fluids before and after donating.
