BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Two child abuse prevention organizations held a rally on the steps of the State Capitol today.
Both the Child Advocacy Centers and Court Appointed Special Advocates want to make sure their legislators are moving laws through that protect kids, and keep money coming to the programs.
Abuse survivor Olivia Ruby says funding programs like CASA are essential for kids in the state of Louisiana.
"Without the help of Child Advocacy Centers, CASA and Hope House, I wouldn't be standing here today with the courage that I have,” stated Ruby. “They helped me get the therapy I needed to heal.”
CASA helps advocate for abused and neglected children throughout the state.
