St. Landry Parish, La — Celebrations for occasions such as proms and graduations are in full swing during the next six weeks, and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office will have more patrols on the streets.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said , "We want to urge revelers to enjoy themselves but to be aware of the strict consequences of underage drinking, and drinking under the influence. Additionally, all alcohol beverage outlets that sell alcohol are put on notice that Sheriff Deputies will enforce all laws relative to underage sale of alcohol to minors vigorously.”
The patrols will increase starting on April 19.
“We want to remind St. Landry residents that underage drinking is a serious offense with strong consequences. Adults/Parents can be prosecuted for hosting underage drinking parties. It unlawful for anyone under 21 to buy, consume or possess any alcoholic beverage. Penalties include fines, loss of driver’s license, and jail time,” Guidroz added.
