SHREVEPORT, La — Shreveport Police have arrested a local man accused of robbing a discount store during the afternoon of April 17 in west Shreveport.
Just before 2:30 p.m., Shreveport Police officers were called to the Dollar General store located in the 2800 block of Jewella Avenue relative to an armed robbery of the business.
Information was received from store employees that advised a man wearing a red bandana, with a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jean shorts, entered the store armed with a small caliber handgun demanding money.
Upon entering the business, the suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the cashier and demand she hand over the cash. The clerk, who complied with the suspects demands, escaped uninjured. The suspect, after receiving an undisclosed amount of money, fled the business on foot.
Quick responding patrol officers worked to establish a perimeter, effectively cordoning off the area where the suspect was last observed fleeing. Just minutes after committing the devious deed, the suspect was apprehended several blocks away near Milton Street near Mertis Avenue.
Don Wilson, 24, was positively identified as the suspect who robbed the business moments earlier. During his arrest, officers located all the money stolen from the business along with a ammunition magazine found on the person of Wilson.
Wilson was charged with Armed Robbery.
