Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Members of the Varsity Sports Running Team who competed in Monday's Boston Marathon are returning home to Baton Rouge.
Many of them had completed the 26-mile race by the time the explosions went off.
Erin Oswalt was among those celebrating the race who were able to avoid the violent scene near the finish, but she couldn't escape the sadness of the injured and killed, especially eight-year-old Martin Richard.
"Every time I would look at his photo or read about him, I would start to cry,” stated Oswalt. “It's just awful. They are innocent people and it's just so cowardly. "
NBC33's Matt Bourdreaux will have more on this story on NBC33 News at 10.
