BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — Bike riders from across Baton Rouge got together to promote Baton Rouge as a bike friendly city.
The day began with a blessing of the bikes. Next riders took time to honor those who where hurt in bike accidents. Then they took off on a trip around parts of the Garden District and Government Street.
It's all part of the mayor's family bike ride.
Riders say it was a great way to be active as a community.
"That's important because at least it brings Baton Rouge together," Aubry Turner, bike rider explained. "Even if it's like from different neighborhoods. It still brings them together especially bike riders. "
Mayor Holden expanded the walk to include room for children with disabilities this year. The goal raise awareness and funding to buy specialized bikes for children in need.
