Livingston Parish is hosting a big party tonight, and it's all to show support for crime fighters. It's all a part of a national effort called night out against crime. This is the third year that Livingston has hosted a big event, and they're planning on the biggest turn out yet.
The goal is to provide a fun environment for people to interact and learn how to help take a stand against crime. Representatives from all different law enforcement agencies will be on hand to answer questions and even serve up hot food like burgers and jambalaya. There's even a special bonus for kids, too.
"We brought out some rides for the kids to let them enjoy themselves," Jason Ard, Chief Deputy of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, said to NBC33. "Livingston Parish schools starts tomorrow, so it will be nice to have the kids have this last little event, hopefully, that they can celebrate before they actually go back to school."
The kickoff will begin at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Winn Dixie in Walker. It's located at 28145 Walker Road South. If you need further directions, please call 225.791.2221.
The event will end at 9 p.m. with a big fireworks display that you will not want to miss.
