HOUMA, LA — A man was arrested after patrolling officers saw him involved in a drug deal.
On April 9 at around 8:45pm, Houma police saw what appeared to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction between a female and a subject driving a silver Dodge Stratus.
Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on the Stratus on Park Ave. near McKinley St. The driver was identified as Christopher D. Lawson, 46.
Lawson denied any drug deal taking place and refused to allow his vehicle to be searched. A K-9 unit was called onto the scene and sniffed out narcotics on the exterior driver’s door.
Officers then found approximately 4.46 grams of suspected marijuana, two suspected Hydrocodone pills, a pipe used for smoking marijuana, and a digital scale that contained marijuana residue. Lawson also could not provide proof of valid liability insurance.
Lawson was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of CDS II (Hydrocodone), Possession of drug paraphernalia and No Proof of Insurance.
The vehicle was towed from the scene, and Lawson was jailed on said charges at the Terrebonne Parish Jail. The female was identified but no evidence was found to pursue charges against her.
