Police responded to shots fired in the 2300 block of America street Monday night.
It was there police were flagged down by a 37-year-old man who had been shot in the arm. He told police Chris Jackson, aka “Nussie,” had been gunned down inside a home nearby.
“Nussie” was preparing to sign with major record label universal records in two weeks.
As word spread about his death, rest in peace messages quickly started filling up his Myspace page. Even posters in memory of the 33-year-old rapper were passed around all morning long.
"He would pass out lobsters, donate money to the community…he really was good person. It really hurt me to see that this had happened to him," said local rapper Kevin Gates.
"He was a good person. He looked out for me when I ain't had nothing," said local rapper malachi.
Kevin Gates and Malachi have both either worked or recorded songs with “Nussie”.
They say his death should be a wake up call to today's youth to start putting violence to the side and begin thinking in a different way.
"We grew up seeing it our whole life a lot of young people. I just feel like they should be aware and they should put forth.
