Houma, La — A Houma man was arrested on attempted murder charges after nearly hitting his girlfriend with his vehicle.
On April 2, Rhubin Scott Jr., 28, intentionally rammed his SUV into her car while she checked on her 6-month-old twins in the back seat. Scott then backed up and sped toward her again.
The victim stated she had to jump back into the car to avoid being struck ; Scott struck her open driver’s side door, bending it toward the hood. He then crashed into the building’s awning on Martin Luther King Boulevard.
He tried to flee the scene, but witnesses followed him and detained him until deputies arrived.
The woman and her children were taken to a hospital and released. Both vehicles were to be towed.
Scott was charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, four counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and Felony Criminal Damage to Property.
