Baton Rouge, La — One of the capital cities favorite eateries, Bistro Byronz, will donate a percentage of their dinner sales on Tuesday, April 9 to a local March of Dimes team, the Umbrella Brigade. Owner Emelie Alton says it's important to give back to the city where the business started.
"Baton Rouge is our home. It's important to serve our community not just the best food, but anything above that we can offer," said Alton. "This event certainly fits our mission to give back."
The team, formed by former NBC33 anchor/reporter, Jennifer Crockett and co-captains Ivy Barnes, Stephanie Bruno and Jennifer Labouisse, chose to participate in the March of Dimes, March for Babies event in downtown Baton Rouge April 27th to celebrate the upcoming birth of Jennifer's daughter, due this June.
"I did the whole baby shower thing when my son was born in 2005. This time around friends kept asking when they could throw us a party, so we decided to ask for their help with the walk instead," said Crockett. "Bistro Byronz was on board right away."
20 percent of evening food sales from any guests who mention the March of Dimes on Tuesday April 9 will be donated to the team. 10 percent of take-out orders mentioning the March of Dimes will be donated as well.
"We hope there's a huge crowd Tuesday. Everyone who comes out will get a great meal and help a great cause. It doesn't get better than that," said Crockett.
Bistro Byronz is located at 5412 Government Street in Baton Rouge.
The March of Dimes walk, March for Babies will begin at 755 3rd Street in Baton Rouge at 9am on Saturday, April 27. For more information, or to donate, go to www.marchforbabies.org/umbrellabrigade .
