Bayou Corne, La (NBC33) — The Bayou Corne sinkhole remains off limits tonight to cleanup crews, according to Assumption Parish emergency officials.
Work stopped once again yesterday because of tremors.
Scientists say the tremors have already decreased in frequency, but recommend that workers stay out of the sinkhole area just in case.
This is the second work stoppage in the last couple of weeks. Scientist say that the failed brine cavern is filling up and may be causing the tremors.
Right now they believe it's about 90 percent full. Experts say the cavern's collapse is what caused the 13-acre sinkhole in the first place.
