BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A community meeting was held tonight to give city leaders the chance to provide more details regarding the future home of the Baton Rouge Police Department and the Sheriff's Office.
City leaders say that they like the deal more and more every time they inspect the hospital. They're hoping to finish their due diligence by May 1 so they can get the police department moved in as quickly as possible.
Community members are curious about one of the buildings on the site, the old part of the hospital, which the lead architect says will probably be torn down. One woman said she really hopes it remains a hospital, especially for pediatric and psychiatric care.
But the city says it wants to bring in a master planner and hold discussions with the community before it makes any decision about that building.
