NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Two Charlotte, North Carolina woman are getting national headlines after petitioning Kraft to remove food coloring from their popular mac and cheese.
Lisa Leake and Vani Hari are food bloggers.
It all started when the ladies realized some American food products are made with food colors or additives banned in other countries.
They say that includes Kraft Cheesy Pasta, the UK version of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinner.
Hari and Leake first started a petition on change.org.
To date, they've received more than 274,000 signatures.
Later, they made a video that went viral and was picked up by several national TV networks.
They're asking Kraft to remove two kinds of artificial dyes.
According to Leake, "they add no nutritional value, they don't change the flavor and do pose risks. They potentially cause hyperactivity in children, they can negatively affect their ability to learn. They have a lot of potential negative effects."
