Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Students at Southern University were busy giving back this morning.
After a month long food drive, college students handed over dozens of bags filled with canned goods and non-perishables.
It's all part of Southern's commitment to give back.
The food is going to the EBR Parish Housing authority to help feed people this holiday weekend.
Students say the feeling of making a difference is amazing.
“I am very happy with the turnout,” stated Tiah Jackson. “We got so many canned foods, and so many people are going to have a good Easter because of Southern students.”
Students do this drive twice a year. They said the one in the spring is just as important as the one around thanksgiving because donations are in shorter supply around Easter.
