Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — So far, we've heard a lot from those opposed to Governor Jindal's proposed tax plan; however, a new study out this week says it will actually be good for Louisiana.
The study, taken by the Pelican Institute for Public Policy, shows the Governor's plan would actually improve our economy and lead to higher incomes for our citizens and more jobs.
The study found the plan, which would eliminate corporate and personal income tax and raise the sales tax, would create almost 12,000 new jobs by 2017 - that's 3,000 new jobs per year.
The report also says the change would boost investment in the state by $183 million and increase real disposable income by more than $1.7 billion, putting an average of more than $900 back into each Louisiana household.
