NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Prom season is still weeks away for high schoolers, but some senior citizens are proving that the prom knows no age.
The Wyndmoor retirement community in Terre Haute, Indiana hosted its second annual prom for seniors on Friday evening. All over 55 years old were welcome.
A prom night isn't complete without the crowing of a king and queen. Nelson Eddy and Janelle Olds won the titles.
"I was surprised! I didn't even expect it," says Eddy, a retired police officer.
"I'm so surprised and I'm really touched," says Olds who has lived at The Wyndmoor for just a few months. She remembers her first prom--sort of. "[I wore] a green dress--mint green. And my date was... God, I don't even remember!" she says laughingly.
Other notable prom-goers include Robert and Faith Baum. "This is the anniversary of our 52nd prom we went to 52 years ago," explains Faith.
