Baton Rouge, La — BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo will host Zippity Zoo Fest on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. The Zoo opened Easter Sunday, 1970, and this festival is an annual celebration, connecting people with animals.
“Zippity Zoo Fest is a festival unlike any other,” said Zoo Director Phil Frost. “Our visitor can come palm to paw with a tiger. I love Zippity Zoo Fest because the Zoo is green and the animals love the spring weather. It’s a great opportunity for families to visit and see everything new at the Zoo.”
Louisiana is the festival capitol of the world, and our “Zoo Fest” does not disappoint, as we have a variety of activities to appeal to every family member. Zippity Zoo Fest will feature keeper chats, face painting, Safari Snapshot photo booth and animal shows at the Wildlife Safari Amphitheater at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. A new addition this year is Expedition BREC, a family-style tour around the Zoo where participants can put a golf ball, race through an inflatable obstacle course, look through a telescope and many other outdoor-style activities designed to experience everything our BREC facilities have to offer.
The EdZOOcation Station, located at the Zoo’s amphitheatre, will allow kids to get up-close to some feathered, slimy, scaly and furry friends. Our Zoo Educators will be on hand to answer all your animal questions.
Regular Zoo admission applies for Zippity Zoo Fest and is $8.25 for adults and teens, $5.25 for children ages 2 to 12, $7.25 for senior citizens and children ages one and under are free. For Zippity, Zoo admissions are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Zoo grounds close at 6 p.m.
