SCOTLANDVILLE, LA (NBC33) — A judge allowed the process to move forward yesterday in the buyout of almost 50 homes near a wastewater treatment facility.
That lets the city go to the homes at the University Place subdivision in Scotlandville, appraise them and make offers.
People there have been complaining about the conditions near the North Wastewater Treatment facility for years. One person said this buyout is something that needs to happen.
“I was deciding whether it was going to be good or was going to be bad, ‘cause the city first said they were going to buyout, then changed their mind about buying out,” Daniel Scott, resident of the neighborhood, said. “Then, all of a sudden the legislature said they are buying us out. I'm ready to sell get out, get rid of it.”
