BATON ROUGE, LA — Baton Rouge General’s Arts in Medicine program has been selected as a candidate for the LIVESTRONG Foundation Community Impact Project, which awards funding to bring proven cancer support programs to communities across the country.
Baton Rouge General is among hundreds of organizations currently in the running to receive funding awards to support programs that have demonstrated success in improving the lives of people affected by cancer.
If selected, Baton Rouge General will use the awarded funds to continue to develop and enhance its Arts in Medicine program, which brings the healing power of arts to all patients in the hospital and the community. The General’s program features local artists from our community who offer a creative outlet to patients with visual arts, such as painting, as well as music therapy and a variety of musical arts.
Finalists will be determined through an online voting campaign that is currently underway and ends March 28. Candidates with the top votes per region will receive funding awards of up to $15,000 to support their program and a toolkit, materials and training to help in facilitating their program.
