BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A bike path linking mid-city Baton Rouge to downtown is gaining serious traction. When it's complete, people will be able to bike or walk between Spanish Town, Memorial Stadium, Seven BREC parks and several spots in between.
Davis Rhorer with the Down Town Development District says the Downtown Greenway is a project born out of the changing needs of people here in the Capital City.
"Explore the world! There's more out there than to just stop at Baton Rouge and feel like that's it, I am finished,” he said. “And sometimes, at some schools, once they stop, things happen or they feel like this is the way it's going to always be. It doesn't have to be like that."
The project has a $2.9 million price tag that's being taken care of by federal and state grant money.
