BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The LSU Tiger basketball team surpassed last year’s win total today as they held on to knock off Georgia in their opening game in the SEC Tournament.
Johnny Jonny Jones and company were well in control of this game at the half as they held a 20 point lead, but it almost slipped away. The Tigers escaped with the 68 to 63 victory.
Junior Shavon Coleman rose to the occasion when his team needed it most, even with a stomach virus that kept him sidelined at times.
“I felt like I had a sickness in my stomach and I had to puke and get it out,” Coleman said. “I had to get back out on the court and play for my team. It's win or go home and you have to give everything you got. There is no looking back and saying I should of or could of done that."
Now the Tigers hope to get revenge on the 13th ranked Florida Gators tomorrow, Friday, March 15. Florida beat LSU by 22 in their first meeting earlier this year. Tipoff is set for noon.
