Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Some people in Baton Rouge are cleaning up after a water leak this afternoon.
The leak happened in Mid City near North 25th and Laurel. Neighbors NBC33 spoke with said it started as a small trickle.
However, it wasn't long until the street, along with several yards were flooded. Some people even reported water damage to their homes.
“It's a disaster,” stated victim Amy Riley. “It’s destroyed all that back there.”
“The leak was very small - it was a little trickle,” said District 10 councilwoman Tara Wicker. “That leak which ended up flooding the neighborhood.”
Wicker said the reason for the flooding was outdated water maps.
NBC33 did not get a response from the Baton Rouge Water Company regarding the flooding situation, but they have issued a boil advisory for people in that area for the next several days.
