SLIDELL, LA (NBC33) — A 41-year-old man is behind bars after he allegedly used Facebook to lure a teen girl into a sexual relationship. However, detectives believe there are several other victims.
The Slidell Police Department reports that the mother of a 15-year-old girl reported the suspect, Wilmer Segue, to police. She told investigators that she intercepted messages between her daughter and Segue and learned that her daughter had been involved in communication with him since January 2013.
According to officials, Segue used a Facebook account called “J’s Cakes N More," which claimed to be an online bakery service. The conversations with the teen occurred via the account and at some point the two developed a sexual relationship.
“Unfortunately, we have child predators that take advantage and prey on the young minds of our children,” Chief Smith, Slidell Police Department, said. ” I encourage all parents to monitor their children’s social media accounts and their text messages. “
The victim’s mother claims that all communication between the two was severed once she learned about the relationship. However, she says Segue began stalking her daughter.
The woman claims that Segue started waiting outside of her daughter’s school and would watch her level on the bus. He would then drive by their home. On Thursday, March 7, officers caught Segue outside of the victim’s home and placed him under arrest.
Segue is charged with Stalking and seven counts of Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile.
An investigation was launched and detectives believe Segue may be connected to other juveniles. They encourage parents to check their children’s Facebook account for a friend by the name of “J’s Cakes N More.”
