GRAY, LA (NBC33) — A 43-year-old man died last night after he was hit by a car. Officials say the man was lying in the roadway at the time of the crash.
The Louisiana State Police reports that the incident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10 in Terrebonne Parish. We’re told the driver was traveling north on LA 24 in the left lane. As she approached to Pitt Bridge, she noticed a person lying in the roadway. Although she attempted to avoid hitting him, she was unable to do so and struck the man.
The pedestrian, William Winslow, 43, of Gray, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured from the crash.
A toxicology test is being performed on Winslow to determine if he was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
