Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Baton Rouge has been named one of the best cities in the U.S. for seniors.
Forbes Magazine puts us on the list of the top 25 places for retirees.
Forbes listed the low price of housing as one of the main reasons retirees chose to live in the Capitol Area. We also have good weather, high-quality hospitals, and lots of cultural activities.
Residents here think the city's charm is a big factor in our high ranking, too.
"If you go out at all, have a nice meal, look at a little of the (city’s) history, and soak up the friendship of people, it's hard to overlook that," stated resident Bradley Bates.
Baton Rouge wasn't the only Louisiana city to make the cut – Alexandria was also high on the list.
Lafayette and Shreveport made a similar list for best places to have a working retirement.
