Baton Rouge, La (NBc33) — A brand new series of events has been launched to help small businesses become better prepared for disasters.
Small businesses and non-profits have the chance to attend seven total workshops in the area and learn more about disaster preparedness.
The event is developed by LSU's Stepehenson Disaster Management Institute and funded by FEMA.
The workshops go over ways to not only prepare, but respond to natural and manmade disasters. Officials say events like these are not just learning experience for them.
"The interaction with those businesses that share and exchange information with each other - it’s very much a learning event for us as much as it is for them," stated Donald Byrne with the SDMI.
