LOUISIANA — Every March 20 is the International Francophonie Day, celebrated throughout the world by French-speakers and Francophiles. This event led in Louisiana to the “Festival de la Francophonie” from March 1 to March 29, in order to celebrate appropriately the important French-speaking heritage and presence in the state.
This year there will be no less than 22 events in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Iberia to celebrate “la Francophonie” in Louisiana, with movies and concerts in French, and a lot of other events. Most are free and open to the public.
