BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — Louisiana Association of Educators teamed up with NBC33's Kris Cusanza, mayor kip holden and other "celebrity" readers for the 3rd annual Read Across Louisiana event.
Kids got a chance to listen to Dr. Seuss stories and do fun crafts. Saturday was Doctor Seuss' birthday. The LAE used the party to teach parents the importance of reading to their kids.
"We know that reading is important enough for you to capture anything and everything you need to learn. We want them to be life long learners. We also know they can travel the world through books. They can learn so much through books, build vocabulary," Joyce Hanes, LAE President, explained.
LAE leaders suggest reading to kids or allowing them to read to you every night.
