Baton Rouge, La — “Blinged” out Cookie booths and wagons are just a few of the ways Girl Scouts hope to entice their potential customers to visit their Cookie booths during the sale which kicks into high gear, March 1 – 17, during the direct sale.
“Many Girl Scouts like to show their creative side when it comes to decorating their booth,” said Alisha Moore, Vice President of Sales, at Girl Scouts Louisiana East. “I think girls from Louisiana, where we’ve just finished celebrating Mardi Gras, are natural designers when it comes to jazzing up their booths with some extra bling!”
A free Girl Scout Cookie Locator mobile phone app that uses the phone’s GPS location or by manually entering a zip code to locate booths is also available for those with smart phones. Customers can download the app from the iPhone App Store and Android Market Place, or by calling **GSCOOKIES (**472665437) from their mobile phone.
The Girl Scouts Louisiana East council is holding both a Bling your Booth and Bling Your Wagon contest, with prizes including free camping trips to extra money to spend in the council’s shops. The council is also encouraging troops to participate in Cookies 4 a Change, which are community service projects the troop will initiate using some of their cookie proceeds. Projects include redoing a playground, adopting a street, conducting a food drive, neighborhood beautification, etc., and troops will create a video of their project for YouTube and the hopes that their project will be selected to receive extra funds and womanpower for its completion.
