ANGIE, LA (NBC33) — Police are currently seeking two men who allegedly shot and killed a dog while it was tied to a tree. Witnesses described the killing as a disturbing act of cruelty.
The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 25 shortly before 11:00 a.m. A witnessed called police after observing the killing, which occurred on Fornea Road in Angie.
The witness told investigators that two men, described as two black males – one young and one middle-aged to elderly, tied a female bulldog-mix between 5-7 times. Investigators located the bullet-riddled dog in a ditch, not far from where she was shot.
"We are horrified at the complete lack of sensitivity and depravity of these two perpetrators,” Jeff Dorson, Director for the Human Society of Louisiana, said. “No animal should have to endure such a terrifying execution and be given such a dishonorable burial. I hope these men are found and arrested and that they will face a harsh penalty if found guilty, and I hope they experience an equally strong rebuke from the community. These actions should not be tolerated nor condoned.”
The men were seen leaving the scene in a green Chevy truck with an extended cab. The truck had the word “Jesus” written on the front license plate.
A reward for information that leads to an arrest of $500 is being offered by the Humane Society of Louisiana.
