We are happy to announce that our black lab puppy, Jewel, has been adopted. She was adopted earlier this week by the Powel family of Robert, Louisiana.
“We had a lab before and I was looking for one that wasn’t a new born, but a young adult dog,” Clint Powel said about his reason for adopting Jewel. “I adopted her for my little girls. One is three-years-old and the other is one-year-old.
She’s real playful, and sometimes she knocks the three-year-old over,” Powell said cheerfully. “But she’s just playing.”
This is a news update. NBC33 News previous story is listed below.
Approximately ten thousand animals in East Baton Rouge Parish alone are euthanized every year. You can help save one of those animals every Friday on NBC33 at 5 p.m. when we give you the chance to “Adopt a Friend.”
Meet Jewel, a six month old black lab who was abandoned by her owner back in February.
Laurie Darensbourg, Executive Director for the Northside Humane Society, found Jewel with her brother and sister. They were stashed away behind a dumpster during a snow storm. Shivering from the cold, Laurie rescued the pups.
Jewel has been spayed, is up-to-date on her shots, and is also microchipped. Now all she needs is a good home.
Darensbourg says that Jewel is the perfect match for a family with small children. She will need lots of room to run as she will continue to grow a little larger.
If you would like to adopt Jewel, send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org . You can also call Laurie directly at 225.964.6992.
