NBC News — Asian markets plummeted tuesday over sequestration worries in the United States. American budget woes triggered a large sell-off on all of Asia's major markets.
In Tokyo, the benchmark Nikkei fell 264 points or 2.6%, closing at 11,399. In Hong Kong, the blue chip heavy Hang Seng also fell, ending the day down 1.3%. Markets in South Korea, Thailand and Australia also finished the day in negative territory.
