LAFAYETTE, LA (NBC33) — Two college baseball teams that are off to a hot start to the young season are set to lay it out on diamond tomorrow night.
The UL Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns and LSU Tigers will play in Lafayette on Tuesday, Feb. 26 for the first time since the 2002 season. That's when the series between the two teams got heated and bad blood stop the pair from playing altogether for a few years.
LSU Head Coach Paul Mainieri says he took it upon himself to repair what he considers to be a great matchup for college baseball.
"There’s no reason we can’t have a good series based on good baseball and good sportsmanship,” he said. “So I extended an olive branch to Tony and said we want to play and he said yes."
The first pitch for tomorrow’s game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Each team has just one loss on the year.
