Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A man was tragically killed after a massive piece of steel rolled on top of him. Officials have ruled it an accidental death.
The Bossier City Police Department reports that the accident happened in the 4100 block of Meadow Lane in Bossier City at the Cactus Wellhead facility on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
Officials say Idaho resident Bobby Wayne, 59, was picking up a delivery from a local company, when he was crushed while helping load a large piece of steel.
Bossier Police ruled the death an accident.
“Our detectives, they talked to everybody on scene and it was determined that this was an accidental death, certainly an unfortunate accident," said Bossier City Spokesman Mark Natale.
Witnesses claim Wayne was helping load a piece of rounded steel used in the manufacturing of oil and gas production equipment onto his flatbed trailer, when the steel began to roll causing the man to fall off the trailer. The piece of steel rolled off the trailer and onto the victim.
