Welcome to Baton Rouge! BRAC offers free event for newcomers

BATON ROUGE, LA — Today the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) announced that it will host “Baton Rouge Area: Behind the Scenes” in 2013.

The free event, which will be held twice this year, will offer a way for newcomers to learn about the Capital Region through short presentations from regional leaders, a brief tour, and an opportunity to ask long-time residents questions. The events are sponsored by Dee Mather-Muenzler, RE/MAX First, and La Capital Federal Credit Union. Anyone new to the area is invited to attend. Additionally, businesses that have hired or plan to hire employees from outside the region are encouraged to contact BRAC to learn more. Event details can be found at www.brac.org/events [1].

“We are excited to be able to offer this event through our talent development program. This is a great way for those new to the region to learn more and get involved,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC. “When people move to the Baton Rouge area, they often have to figure things out on their own about education, health care, housing, community service, or recreational options. We would like to help new residents in the region learn about the Capital Region so they feel knowledgeable, welcome, and find ways to contribute their talents to the Creative Capital of the South.”

The first event will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 and begin at 9:00 a.m. at Kean Miller (II City Plaza, seventh floor). After several short presentations and a bus tour in and around the downtown area, the event will conclude at the Red Stick Farmer’s Market.
