PORT ALLEN, LA (NBC33) — A Port Allen judge has ruled that city’s Chief Financial Officer will keep her job.
A Port Allen judge granted a preliminary injunction from firing Audrey McCain, the city’s CFO. The decision will also prevent Mayor Deedy Slaughter from hindering McCain from doing her job.
The issue was taken to the court system after Slaughter announced the removal of McCain from the position during a council meeting on Monday, Feb. 11. Slaughter based the decision on what she said were issues with her up-keep of the city’s finances. However, the council advised against the action. In the days following the decision a judge granted a temporary restraining order preventing the firing from being finalized.
NBC33’s Kris Cusanza will explain what this means coming up on NBC33 News at 5:00 and 6:30.
