Baton Rouge, La — At a very important time in the company's history, the Capitol Area Transit System has a new leader.
Isaiah Marshall was chosen to be the new chairman of the board at yesterday's meeting. Marshall replaces Jared Loftus, who will remain on the board and serve as the company’s secretary.
CATS has made big promises about upgrades to its service, after securing millions in tax dollars last year.
While the board decided to make a change, Marshall says he alone won't have that big an influence.
"I’m glad to have the opportunity to serve in this position in leadership, and just thankful that my colleagues have the vote of confidence,” stated Marshall. “But it still takes a team effort; I'm still only one person. So it's going to take us as a group to make sure we move forward."
The board decided not to act on CEO Brian Marshall's contract. He has been on a month-to-month contract, but they put off a possible long-term deal for their next meeting.
