LAKE CHARLES, LA — A resident of Calcasieu Parish has been arrested on rape charges.
On February 16, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a Lake Charles home regarding a report of an attempted rape.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the 19-year-old victim who advised her roommate allowed Hunter J. Leger, 21, of Lake Charles, to sleep on the couch at their home because he had been drinking. During the early morning hours, Leger entered the victim’s room while she slept and attempted to rape her.
After struggling with Leger as he attempted to hold her down, the victim was able to break free but was pulled back onto the bed by Leger as she attempted to flee. The victim was eventually able to get away from Leger but suffered numerous bruises and marks on her neck during the struggle.
Leger was arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempted forcible rape. His bond was set at $150,000.
