THIBODAUX, LA (NBC33) — A Gonzales man was arrested after literally everything he had on him was listed as stolen.
“He had just stolen a laptop, the white mongoose bicycle that he had rode to the residence, and the clothes that he was wearing from the Wal-Mart,” David Melancon, Thibodaux Police Department, said.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 15, Thibodaux Police received a call about a suspicious male on a white bicycle at LA 1 and Canal Blvd. trying to sell a laptop that he had just won from Walmart. TPD Bike Patrol, who was patrolling the area, found a white male, Seth Martin, 33, of Gonzales matching the description in the 300 Block of East 7th Street walking out of a residence with a red bicycle.
Police learned that Martin saw a television in the front yard of a home, and asked the home owner to have it. Martin went inside with the owner, and then left with the owners red bicycle when the owner was in a back room. The home owner told Police that Martin did not have permission to take the bicycle, and that Martin was trying to sell him a laptop.
Investigators recovered all of the stolen items. Martin was arrested and charged with Felony Theft of Goods, Theft, and two felony warrants out of St. John Parish. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. His bond was set at $7,000.
