baton rouge, la (nbc33) — Thirty-five new firemen are joining the ranks of the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Today the newest members of the team were sworn in and given their badges. The cadets trained for close to six months, learning the ropes of fire fighting. It’s also the first time in over 20 years that every cadet who started with the group saw it through to the end. It’s something the new firefighters say speaks to the strength of their bond.
"I didn't see any reason why all 35 of us shouldn't pass,” Rob Morrisette said. “It takes a lot of work and we all kind of came together and we did good. Everybody graduated, we're all proud of each other."
The new recruits will start immediately and they say now the real work starts.
