NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Wilbur the pig was abandoned nearly three years ago near Riverton, Wyoming and now wanders from place to place spending time with his horse friends.
"He is attached to these horses out here, and it is just amazing how he will move from one set of horses to another set," says Fred Perrett.
Local residents feed Wilbur, and then he is on the move.
They say the critter leaves tracks like a deer with one big difference.
"His belly drags in the snow cause the girls feed him and he makes a little rut through the snow," Perrett says.
Wilbur really has no set home, but he does travel an area of 400 acres, making friends and enemies along the way.
"There have been dogs in the neighborhood that have been aggressive and have gotten after him and stuff, but he has always held his own," says Julie Perrett.
As for Wilbur's future?
"To me this is a Disney story. It really truly is. He has made it and it would be just a tragedy for someone to pin him up or try to make a pet out of him because that would just break his spirits," Fred Perrett says.
Residents tried catching Wilbur, initially but had no luck.
They say he leaves for extended periods of time but always returns.
