Louisiana — Deepwater Horizon Claims Administrator Patrick A. Juneau has announced Deepwater Horizon Eligibility Notices have surpassed $2 billion.
“As of the close of business on Friday, February 1, we have issued eligibility notices with payment offers for $2,000,994,024,” said Juneau. “While this is a significant milestone, our focus remains on processing claims in an efficient and timely manner.”
An eligibility notice is issued after a claim is thoroughly reviewed and a determination is made that the claimant has a valid claim. The notice is then sent to the claimant for their review and at that time a claimant can accept the offer, reject the offer or ask for a re-determination.
“Currently our acceptance rate for eligible payments is ninety-four percent,” said Juneau. “This high rate of acceptance verifies that we are providing a fair settlement.”
The deadline to file claims is April 22, 2014. Claimants can get more information by visiting the Deepwater Horizon Economic Settlement official website at www.deepwaterhorizoneconomicsettlment.com [1] or by calling toll free (866) 992-6174.
