BELL RIVER, LA (NBC33) — River traffic along the Intercoastal Spillway has been shut down due to the search for a missing Baton Rouge firefighter. Officials have not said how long the closure is expected to last.
We’re told divers have been deployed to continue the search, which resumed early this morning . Roughly a dozen agencies are participating in the search for Jacob Lewis, 28, who went missing around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
At this time details are limited. However, what we do know is that Lewis was at the Belle River Landing with his wife. The two were in the area to set crawfish traps. However, for unknown reasons, Lewis disappeared.
