NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU-CNN) — Many flock to Twitter to post witty remarks or check in on Yelp or Foursquare for their favorite places, but now New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is asking residents with social media prowess to post their favorite places for visitors of the Super Bowl.
With tens of thousands of tourists visiting the city for the big game, and Carnival, Landrieu asked locals to help out visiting football fans by tweeting their favorite places.
“Locals know their city best,” said Landrieu. “There are a number of restaurants and fun activities to do throughout the city of New Orleans that might not always be publicized. Let’s make sure visitors get the best variety we can offer.”
Landrieu, on Twitter known as @mayorlandrieu, asked that residents tweet their favorite hot spots using the hashtag #BestOfNOLA.
Super Bowl visitors were encouraged to follow the hashtag throughout the week to learn of all the best places to eat and visit in the city.
The official Super Bowl XLVII Host Committee Twitter handle is @nolasuperbowl.
The Host Committee will be using #superbowl and #SB47 throughout the week.
