NEW ORLEANS, LA (NBC33) — There are lots of drivers who are going to need to be careful this weekend as they go to the Super Bowl. The state says it’s changing the work schedules for some of its construction zones, especially getting into New Orleans.
DOTD reports that some areas will see four times as much traffic as usual on Sunday, mainly around the Superdome. But since New Orleans has hosted the Super Bowl so many times, officials are better prepared to handle the crush of people.
"We have a lot of lessons learned from the previous Super Bowls and Mardi Gras all coming in at the same time, so we've definitely built upon those lessons to continue to improve flow and make sure we get people to the game as quickly as we can," Jodi Conachen, DOTD, said.
The state says it has lots of beautification projects going on, which were fast-tracked when they found out the Super Bowl would bring all those visitors to the area.
