BATON ROUGE, LA — A 17-year-old died after he was accidentally shot in the back by his friend.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the shooting occurred on Saturday, Jan. 26 at roughly 3:00 p.m. We’re told the victim, Marcus Williams, 17, was shot in the back when he and his 16-year-old friend were allegedly playing with the gun.
Williams was transported to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The teen who accidentally fired the weapon fled the scene before police arrived. However, he later turned himself in to detectives. He was arrested and charged with Negligent Homicide.
This is the second arrest for negligent homicide involving a gun for Baton Rouge Police in 2013. The first resulted in the death of a 2-year-old child .
