NEW ORLEANS, LA (WGNO-CNN) — Look around the Superdome and you'll see the barricades and gates limiting traffic. Come Super Bowl Sunday, a perimeter around the dome will prohibit cars from entering for blocks.
If you don't have a ticket for the game but want to come to the CBD to enjoy the fun, parking could be a challenge. But it's not impossible — not yet.
"We've got about 500 spaces still left," said Gregory Reaves, the District Manager for Platinum Parking.
Reaves says people can still get parking places less than a block away from the Superdome, but they're pricey. His company also has spots, a little farther away, for tailgating and even some economy spots — by Super Bowl standards.
"We've got spots anywhere from a low of $75 all the way up to $300 or $400 with a great view of the Superdome."
If you plan to bring an RV to the game, your options are more limited. Workers with the French Quarter RV Resort say they'll use a nearby grocery store parking lot for overflow.
Experienced RV vacationers say planning a Super Bowl trip must be done months in advance. People who hit the road in the recreation vehicles couldn't imagine traveling any other way, and they know plenty of people feel the same way and plan their Super Bowl trips early.
"Probably last year, right after the last Super Bowl I would think, you'd start planning," said Cory Booz who was renting one of the prime spots at the French Quarter RV Resort.
Anyone who books a parking spot in advance should ask their parking company for information about getting past any security that could be in their way.
