BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Baton Rouge Krewes are gearing up for the first weekend of parades in the Capital City. Starting Saturday, the Krewe of Jupiter and the Mystic Krewe of Mutts will transform downtown Baton Rouge into a Mardi Gras hotspot!
First is the Krewe of Jupiter and Juno parade on Saturday, Jan. 26. This year’s theme is “A Diamond Jubilee.” The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Krewe of Jupiter will run down the following streets in order:
- South River Road
- Third Street
- Fourth Street
- Main Street
- Ninth Street
- Sixth Street
On Sunday, Jan. 27 downtown Baton Rouge will go to the dogs, literally!
The Mystic Krewe of Mutts is a fundraiser event for CAAWS (Capital Area Animal Welfare Society). Owners are encouraged to dress up their pets and spend the day participating in family-friendly events. This year’s theme is “Totally Paw-some 80’s!”
Pet adoption booths will be located at the event, so if you’re not a pet owner yet, this could be a good time to find a new member for your family.
The Krewe of Mutts will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 4:00 p.m. The booths will begin at the new Town Square and will sprawl out along North Boulevard. The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m.
